The Ohio State University - Sport & Society Initiative Panel on Pay to Participate Fee Policies
This past Friday I was honored to take part in a panel discussion surrounding the usage of Pay to Participate Fees in interscholastic athletics and co-curricular activities within the state of Ohio. The Panel consisted of the Ohio Secretary of State John Husted, Ohio Senator Cliff Hite, OHSAA Assistant Commissioner Jerry Snodgrass, Ohio Univ. Professor Dr. David Ridpath and myself.

There is a lot to the discussion, and many different viewpoints moving forward. The major component for me is the importance of ensuring that Athletic Directors are in the discussion. As a former AD, often we are some of the last to have input, but the first to develop, implement, and evaluate a policy.
Schools need activities. Kids need help. It's time to get to work.
